Shah Rukh Khan Discusses His Decision to Quit Smoking: “I Worried I’d Always Struggle to Breathe”
Shah Rukh Khan brings in his 59th birthday at a fan-event in Bandra on Saturday
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who was once a chain smoker, has finally quit the bad habit. Shah Rukh Khan celebrated his 59th birthday at an event hosted by his fan clubs at Bandra on Saturday. At the event, the actor could be heard saying, “There is a good thing – I am not smoking anymore guys.”.
I had thought after quitting cigarettes I would not feel this breathlessness so much. And it comes with its attendant side effects and still survives. May be it also will go okay. It is all right. In 2012, he was seriously trolled by people over the same issue when his team, Kolkata Knight Riders, were losing to Rajasthan Royals.
He later managed to get away with a meager fine of Rs 100 by pleading before a court in Jaipur. This one too anchored an Ask SRK session at the event itself. When one of his fans asked him about what he has learnt from his children, Shah Rukh Khan, with that typical wittiness that makes him the great celebrity that he is, talked of anecdotes from the morning of his birthday, narrated that “I woke up late today because there was a dinner last night.”.
So, I woke up and decided to spend some time with my little one. He too was having his own problems. His I-Pad was not working. After that, my daughter came up with her problem. She had some outfits, which were not looking too good. The fitting was all wrong. Then my elder son. Not to speak of, minute details about Shah Rukh Khan set the mood of the event and impressed the audience as always.
Shah Rukh Khan continues, “So, I learn from my family. Jitne bachche hote hein, utna patience aadmi mein badta hain (The more kids you have, the more patient you become)! So this is the learning I carry from my home to my work. Which is a lot of patience, lot of love, lot of care. Kisi ki koi bhi chiz naa chal rahi ho toh main usko theek karta hoon. Shooting pe, kaam pe, office pe (Whoever needs to fix things, I am there for them. At work, home or office). I think patience is the one thing that I have learnt from my family.”
The return of Shah Rukh Khan was fabulous last year. He produced some of the biggest box office hits like Pathaan and Jawan. However, there wasn’t a good audience response for Dunki.

It was an eventful day for Shahrukh Khan as he celebrated his 59th birthday at an event organised by his fan clubs in Bandra on Saturday. At the event, Shah Rukh Khan hosted an Ask SRK session. That had one fan asking him how much he has learnt from his children.
Shah Rukh Khan, witty as ever, shared birthday morning anecdotes. “I woke up late today because there was a dinner last night. So I woke up and went to spend some time with my little one. he was having his own issues. His I-Pad was not working. Then after that my daughter had a problem. She had some outfits which were not looking okay. The fitting was all wrong. Then my elder son.” To say that these minute details by Shah Rukh Khan set the mood of the event would be more than a bit apt and would not disappoint as they do always.
Shahrukh Khan went on, “So, I learn from my family. Shahrukh Khan avoided the ritual of greeting and meeting fans from the balcony of Mannat this time. This is the second consecutive year when he had appeared at a fan event on his birthday. He expressed his gratitude by posting his pose. The caption said, “Thanks for coming over and making my evening special. My love to everyone who made it for my birthday. And for those who couldn’t, sending you all my love.”
Gauri Khan also wish him with an adorable click. Along with a throwback picture from years ago, and the recently clicked picture at his birthday intimate bash, Gauri wrote, “A memorable evening last night with friends and family. happy birthday.”
Shah Rukh Khan had had an excellent return last year. He had minted money by giving two box office superhits Pathaan and Jawan. His film Dunki was an audience lukewarm response.
