“It is with great hope that I look forward to WAVES: a film and entertainment world summit to be held in our country itself. An occasion that celebrates our industry and acknowledges the role it plays in the Indian economy as well as its strength as a soft power. And above all, an occasion that champions and fosters creativity.”

PM Modi announces WAVES 2025
Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared the WAVES summit through his popular radio program, Mann Ki Baat, episode 117. Scheduled for February 5 to February 9, 2025, in India, it is an event that is being held for the first time in history, bringing leaders, media persons, and entertainers under one roof.
Addressing the people, PM Modi said:
“For the first time, the World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit i.e. WAVES is going to be organized in our country next year. At the WAVES summit, giants of the media and entertainment industry and people from the creative world are going to come to India. This summit is an important step toward making India a hub of global content creation. I feel proud to tell you that young creators will also participate in this summit.
The Prime Minister further said that entertainment is a big contributor to the economy of the country and strengthens global soft power for India.
Apart from Shah Rukh Khan, many celebrities from the film fraternity joined the praise train. Actors Akshay Kumar and Sanjay Dutt, and CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi, were some of the first to extend their support for WAVES 2025.
Akshay Kumar: This idea of WAVES 2025 is a “wonderful idea” and he appreciated PM Modi for the same vision, he said on social media.
“Now this is PM @narendramodi ji’s vision towards the promotion of the Media & Entertainment sector. Quite a wonderful idea. WAVES 2025 summit will hopefully be a fabulous global forum to have the entire entertainment industry come and grow together.”.
He is of the view that India is not just winning but is in fact becoming a leader of such entertainment issues. He posted on social media about it:

Prasoon Joshi: The lyricist and chairman, CBFC believed that the summit may well become an excellent platform to bring into limelight the voluminous content industry of the country. He added, “WAVES 2025 will enlighten creative potential of the nation to take its image one more step ahead on a global platform.”
