The 9th of January is marked by three birthdays in the wider Akhtar family: that of Farhan, his cousin Farah Khan, and Anusha Dandekar, sister of Farhan’s wife, Shibani.

Wednesday night had an enormous amount of cake cutting in the Akhtar household. The adorable picture attached by filmmaker Zoya Akhtar was of three extended family members blowing out birthday candles together.

Triple Birthday Celebration

Zoya posted a picture on Thursday morning which shows her with her brother, actor-filmmaker-singer Farhan Akhtar, seated in between, and smiling with his eyes closed wearing a black t-shirt. To his left is their cousin, filmmaker-choreographer Farah Khan, who shares her birthday with Farhan and turned 60 on Thursday. Farah closes her eyes, too, after all, she looks really pretty in a navy blue kurti. Holding Farhan’s right arm is his sister-in-law and former VJ Anusha Dandekar, the sister of his wife and actor Shibani Dandekar. Anusha twinning with Farhan in black dress, smiling. There are three birthday cakes with candles on the table in front of all three of them.

Captioning the post, Zoya says, “Bring It In (red heart emoji),” adding to that some interesting hashtags including ‘Birthday babies,’ ‘All number 9,’ ‘Capricornia,’ referring to their sun sign,’Three’s company,’ and “Hum cake khane ke liye kahin bhi ja sakte hain,’ quoting the popular dialogue from Farhan’s 2001 cult directorial debut Dil Chahta Hai. Interestingly, Zoya served as an assistant director to Farhan on that movie while Farah was the choreographer.

Farah Expressed Herself

Fahran commented on Zoya’s post, “Awwwww… best birthday bringing in.. thank you, zoeeyyyy (red heart emoji) lov my family.” Actors Huma Qureshi and Siddhant Chaturvedi, along with Shweta Bachchan, also left red heart emojis in the comment section. Farah also reposted the picture on her Instagram Stories and wrote, “To all the capri 9’s… happy birthday.” She also thanked Zoya, Shibani, and her aunt and veteran screenwriter Honey Irani for “bringing it in so beautifully.”

Farah let everyone have a glimpse of her Reel. She recorded Farhan for the very moment when he saw the present that was a birthday gift from Farah. Farhan just laughed really hard when he discovered that the DVD was that of Manoj Kumar’s first historical drama, Kranti, which Farah mentioned in her caption that it was his favorite film. And in the video, Farhan goes ahead and starts singing the title song of Kranti. Farah wrote in the caption, “What do gift ur little brother who has everything?? A piece of our childhood of course! Happy birthday @faroutakhtar #capri9 keep the kranti going #favouritefilm.”
