Bareilly Ki Barfi’s Epic Return: Ayushmann, Rajkummar, and Kriti Reunite for Fans in 2025

The official word on the news came in the form of an Instagram post by the director Ashwini Iyer Tiwari and Junglee Pictures on 13 January, 2025 with the colorful poster of Ayushmann and Rajkummar and Kriti in colors which confirmed the fact that the movie would go back to theatres next month. The post had a very funny caption accompanying it, which read as follows: “This Valentine’s, celebrate love and friendship and fill mithaas in your life with our barfis! #BareillyKiBarfi re-releasing in cinemas on 7th Feb.”

The film Bareilly Ki Barfi is about Bitti, absolutely free-spirited young woman from Kriti Sanon. She is so sick of all the judgments about her from the very conservative town that she lives in, Bareilly. She finally stumbles upon a book called Bareilly Ki Barfi. She falls for it because of an utterly laughable image that a woman has of her life. So, she goes on the prowl to hunt down this forgotten writer for years. The most comic twist of all events is when she finds out the messenger, who helped her find the novelist, is indeed the guy who had written the book, although still unknown at the time.

It’s one of those films which a viewer experiences a few comic miscommunications, romance, and realization. Threading it all out perfectly are romance, friendship, and societal norms. The movie contains an outstanding chemistry by the main cast in all aspects of the movie.

Ayushmann Khurrana is never one to surprise his audience with quirky characters, and so, the part of quirky publisher Pritam Vidrohi who happened to be a dancer and thus proved the secret author of the book fit him well in itself. This, however, is the only film where the actor, Rajkummar Rao plays the character Chandermohan Tripathi-a sort of conservative man who falls into the pandemonium brewed when Bitti embarks on finding the author of the book she read. It was with this film that he became a comic actor, and from then on, things went in the right direction.

Kriti Sanon has been absolutely brilliant in bringing out vividly the free spirit and emotive depth of Bitti. Her character of being a lady who cannot cope up with the space of a small town but at the same time in search of love and acceptance really melted many hearts.

The supporting actors like Pankaj Tripathi and Seema Pahwa also gave strength to the story by giving very fine comedy and natural acting. The whole cast rendered love, conflict, and friendship very well balanced.
