Top Villain of the List for earnings in India charged Rs 200 Crores for a Single film
With such a fee for one film, India’s highest-paid villain has surpassed even the biggest Bollywood superstars. Reports suggest the fees to be around ₹200 crore.
Hero sells the ticket of a film. This is what has been said about Indian cinema; most often, it is said to justify those exorbitant salaries paid to male leads for films. Well, to put it in perspective, top stars are today making over ₹100 crore for a film which in the past used to be the budget of entire films.
Leading Heroes- The “Villains”
In addition to this, salaries of other artists too have improved as a result of the increased salaries for heroes; not as much, however. Now there is a section of stars challenging the leading heroes-the “villains”. With more and more mainstream heroes turning into villains for big-budget Indian films, they suddenly earn more than those who play the lead roles. The highest earring out of them made a record by earning nothing less than ₹200 crore for a single film.
The Costliest Villain of India
Kannada superstar Yash currently stands out as the most expensive villain in the history of Indian cinema. Best known for KGF, Yash has co-produced and acted in Nitesh Tiwary’s version of Ramayana. According to the reports, the actor’s overall remuneration and share in the distribution amount to ₹200 crores-including the male lead Ranbir Kapoor in the film.
In the Ramayana, Yash plays the character of Ravana and is now considered the most highly-paid antagonist in Indian films. He has taken over from Kamal Haasan, who reportedly earned ₹25-40 crores for his cameo in the movie, Kalki 2898 AD.
Other India’s highest-paid actor demands ₹300 crore per film?
According to Track Tollywood, Allu Arjun reportedly raked in a whopping ₹300 crore for Pushpa 2: The Rule, one of his most-awaited upcoming films. Since big-budget movies such as Jawan and Kanguva had the same budget at ₹300 crore, the figure is astronomical, and it brings him the title of being India’s highest-paid actor. The Telugu star has now overtaken Rajinikanth, who collected ₹250 crore for Jailer and Vijay, who collected a similar amount for Leo. Bollywood biggies like Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan have been able to collect between ₹150-200 crore for their biggest hits, with profit sharing included. Reports indicate that Aamir Khan had till 2017 raked over ₹230 crore for Dangal
Many have doubted the genuineness of Allu Arjun’s ₹300 crore ‘fees’ for Pushpa 2 But there is a way the actor could be earning that amount for the film. Like many top stars today, including his contemporary Prabhas, Allu Arjun has begun to forego a large portion of the signing amount in favour of distribution rights and profit share. This would mean that if Pushpa 2 manages to be a blockbuster, crossing ₹1000 crore as predicted, trade experts say he stands to earn between ₹250-300 crore. That’s how Aamir earned ₹230 crore for Dangal
How Yash has outshined all major Indian celebrities
The ₹200 crore Yash takes away for Ramayana is no ordinary achievement. The figure is way beyond what the most celebrated Bollywood stars charge per film. Besides Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan has earned almost ₹150 crore per film, and Salman Khan also similarly received that amount for his biggest hits. Aamir Khan also crossed the 200-crore mark only once recently.
Prabhas, whose name is synonymous with Telugu cinema at present, also reportedly takes home a sum close to ₹120-150 crores per film. The only three actors in Indian cinema (SRK only added) who earned more than a ₹200 crores hit for just a single movie project are South superstars Allu Arjun, Rajinikanth, and Vijay.
