Kapil Sharma finally responds to Allegations of being Racist towards Atlee
Kapil Sharma has now reacted to the controversy that followed him being brutally trolled for allegedly mocking Atlee on his show; here is what the netizens have to say about his tweet.
Last week, the comedian Kapil Sharma introduced the cast of Baby John on his comic show. Director Kalees, writer and co-producer Atlee came along with the stars Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh, and Wamiqa Gabbi to make it a memorable episode, but a particular segment soon rocked the internet as netizens seemed to feel Atlee had been insulted with Kapil’s question.
Kapil being Accused of being Racist towards the Filmmaker Atlee
Following a clip of the same, it surfaced on social media which resulted in Kapil being accused of being racist towards the filmmaker, causing him some heavy trolling. Well, it seems Kapil has now opened up and has commented on the controversy, replying to an internet user on X, formerly Twitter.
This user shared a clip from the episode, where Kapil asked Atlee, “Atlee sir actually you are so young, and aap itne bade producer director ban gaye hain. Kabhi aapke saath aisa hua hai ki kabhi aap kisi star se milne gaye first time, aur usko laga hi naa ho ki aap Atlee ho. Usne kaha ‘where is Atlee?’” The user added to the clip refering, “Kapil Sharma insults Atlee on looks subtly? Atlee replies like a boss: Don’t judge by appearance, judge by heart.” Kapil tweeted such post, saying: “Dear sir can you explain to me when and where did I spoke about looks in this video? please do not spread hate in social media 🙏 thank you.”
Kapil Sharma is taking a Nosedive
Kapil’s way of countering the allegations has now brought a division on the internet. Some are trolling him. For instance, one user tweeted, “Kapil Sharma is taking a nosedive. He’s revealing his side of the story on Twitter,” while yet another commenter trolled, “you didn’t talk. but you implied directly and laughed when Atlee said he understands where you were hinting at. shame on you kapil.” Another comment added, “Don’t act oversmart!!! He understood your question and you didn’t stand a chance! Shameless fellow!”

Atlee will soon release his much-touted production, Baby John, which features Varun Dhawan in the principal role. The film has officially been adapted from the Thalapathy Vijay starrer Theri (2016), directed by Atlee himself, and it is the first Bollywood release by this director after smashing all records with Jawan (2023), one half of Shah Rukh Khan’s two-part comeback to Bollywood last year. It is needless to say that the final leg of promotions for the film is going on in full swing.
Sure, there was some support coming from fans for Kapil too. One social media user wrote in this regard, “There is obviously problematic stuff in this show but in this particular case, it was clearly talking about how young Atlee is considering the fact that he has done such successful works that it might not lead to people not recognizing him,” another added, “He literally did not make any colourist joke on him, he was taking about being taken seriously as a director cuz he looks young.” “Kapil just went on stating how young Atlee is, never said anything about looks’.
