The review of the movie , “Abhishek makes the most of his realism as a chill guy for the character, other than some of the best one-liners in the room. ‘Speaking in between when two Sens are talking is ‘insensitive,’ ‘he explains to the daughter boyfriend of his. I could clearly see here an echo of Amitabh’s own image of an old father in Piku, who though gets involved in his daughter’s life and makes a fault of it too. I Want To Talk has its pacing issues.”

About -I Want to Talk

I Want to Talk, quite simply, had Abhishek play a one-of-a-kind character, Arjun, who is on the verge of surgery completely different from what he has imagined and cups into a pretty difficult phase of his life while he undergoes this relationship with the daughter. Johny Lever, Ahilya Bamroo, Banita Sandhu, and Pearle Maaney star alongside the release. The film opened in theatres worldwide on November 22. Shoojit and Ronnie Lahiri produced the project under Rising Sun Films.

Recently talking with Shoojit, who just returned from Goa after attending the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), he expressed his views on I Want to Talk for the media, ANI. “I Want to Talk is a film beyond words. While watching this, it is about the kind of emotions one feels. Abhishek is receiving so much appreciation. People are talking so much about him,” Shoojit said excitedly since the film has been rowdy with the responses.

The perfect mix

Fortunately, the latter half of the film is right there in the peg of a light-hearted comedy-and thanks mainly to casting Johnny Lever as Johnny. The man brings a smile to your face just being there, gets a pair of wonderful lines that crack you up, and integrally brings it alive. Bachchan has, too, put a lot of heart into the portrayal of his part as Arjun, who is traumatized at the outset by one operation but later mesmerized by them.

He has gone through 19 of such operations! His relationship with his doctor Jayanta Deb (Jayant Kriplani) is another highlight-highlight-the chemistry the two share also infuses a lot of enthusiasm into the story. Bachchan brings alive his real life demeanor as a chill guy with some of the best one liners in the room for his character. When he tells his daughter’s boyfriend, “Speaking in between when the two Sens are talking is ‘inSensitive’,” it could not be missed.

I Want To Talk sucks at its pacing. The first half is fine enough; the conflict is made, along with the predicament and Arjun’s battle plan. The second half, however, gets extended, with an unnecessary fatigue-inducing initial run. An excellent, bright finale comes, as always. What’s left is the title plus the irony: towards the finale, his daughter will say in a voice-over that she wishes she could have just one heart-to-heart talk with her father. Then, in whose perspective is this title, from Reya or her father Arjun? I want to think.
