Junaid Khan disclosed that how his Dyslexia was discovered by his Parents
While they were going through the script of Taare Zameen Par, Junaid expressed that his parents, Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta, sensed that he was dyslexic.
Junaid Khan opened up regarding the diagnosis of dyslexia in early childhood. The actor made his debut last year with Maharaj and opened up about his 6-year relationship with dyslexia. But how did the parents come to know about it? Aamir Khan, his father, and Reena Dutta, his mother, in an interview with Vickey Lalwani, hinted that the parents discovered it while reading the script of Taare Zameen Par.
What Junaid said…
During the interview, Junaid revealed, “Neither of my parents were particular (about my results)… They were, however, minding it with their schooling because I was diagnosed with dyslexia very early on.”
When the host asked if the revelation led Aamir to create Taare Zameen Par, he replied it was the opposite of the case. Now for the uninitiated, Taare Zameen Par centered on an 8-year-old boy, Ishaan Awasthi, who finds it difficult to concentrate on his studies, and suffers from several problems in his schooling as well. Aamir acts as a warm and caring teacher who recognizes all the talent lying in Ishaan.
As Junaid puts it, “It seems to me that it swung a bit in the other direction. When they heard the script of Taare Zameen Par, they were like, ‘Wait.. We have seen this in our own lives. And indeed, at that point, they took me to a specialist, and I was diagnosed as being dyslexic.”
Junaid opened up regarding his Parent’s Divorce
This is also what Junaid opened up regarding his parents’ divorce. I think he did that during the interview with Vicky Lalwani on his YouTube channel. He said, “It was good. My parents split up, I think, when I was eight. But they never actually let us feel that. I never saw them fight till I was 19.
The first time I saw my parents fight, I was 19. So we never saw them disagree or fight. They always… When it came to us (Junaid and his sister Ira) they were a single unit. So, I think that way they did well. I think it was probably a mature thing to do. I mean two good people aren’t always good together and this way we got, at least I got a childhood with both parents being happy.”
That has not happened but still, in Junaid’s case, he never found the absence of his parents’ togetherness. Talking about life afterwards, Junaid said, his parents and sister Ira Khan take care that they always meet.
“Great. We meet often (after her marriage). Within the same 100-meter radius, we live. So, we meet often. Actually, family tea is every Tuesday evening. So, mum, Ira, me, and dad, since some of us may not be available, but otherwise, every Tuesday evening we meet where there are all four of us or three or two. It has been going on for several years now. We meet pretty often,” added Junaid.
Forthcoming work from Aamir and Junaid
Last October, Aamir announced the sequel to Taare Zameen Par: Sitaare Zameen Par. The film starred Aamir, Darsheel, and Genelia Deshmukh in the primary roles. The sequel is directed by RS Prasanna, based on the 2018 Spanish film Champions.
Next up for Junaid is Sharer with Sridevi’s daughter, Khushi Kapoor, in ‘Loveyapa’, which releases on February 7. Junaid is also expected to be a star in a film with Sai Pallavi sometime this year.
