Shahid Kapoor expressed the difficult phase when his mother gave birth to Ishaan Khatter and her struggle to come back into acting. Shahid Kapoor opened up about career, family, and much more in a new interview.

The actor was interviewed by journalist Faye D’Souza at her YouTube channel where he discussed freely about that time when Ishan Khatter was born and when he was struggling to get hold of his own career. Shahid revealed that during that time, he was living in ‘rented houses’ with mother Neelima Azeem and was ‘too proud’ to ask father Pankaj Kapoor.

Shahid opened about Early Years

Shahid conversates through that interview talking about how he may have started in the industry: “I knew my old man. I had a fairly good relation with him. But I was with my mother since I was 3. Ishaan was born. I was 14 when mom stopped working to take care of him. She was 35-36 when Ishaan was born, and it is hard to have a child at that age.

And being a working woman with a 14-year-old son, being in Mumbai, it was her second marriage… There was a lot happening with her at that time. It wasn’t like she could make a call and get me work. She was herself trying to get back to work herself, and it wasn’t easy. People just forget you. You try to make a comeback, and it is like you just vanished from film work. One day, you are there, and the next thing, you know you have become buried in everyone’s memory.”

‘I did not want to ask my doing father’ Shahid went on to add “She struggled to balance all this while we were living in rented houses. I did not have a relationship with my father that would allow me to ask him… Having said that, I had a great relationship, but I did not want to ask. That is not how I wanted to do it. Much guidance came from him, but this was something I wanted to do on my own. I was very proud like that. This was the only route for me.”

About Shahid and His Journey

However, Shahid’s very first Bollywood movie was a mere dance routine in Taal (1999) directed by Subhash Ghai. Four years later, he made his debut as a leading man in Ishq Vishk (2003), where he won a Filmfare Best Male Debut Award for his performance. Over these years, he has created a niche for himself as a star.

Shahid Kapoor said “Arranged marriage has turned out to be the best thing that can happen to my life. I have Mira as my best life partner…I thought, ‘Oh, I’d have to be the protective husband to this 20-year-old girl who just came from Delhi.’ This is a real big bad world of movies and glamour, and everybody is so judgy,” said Shahid, recently seen in comedy romance Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha.

Shahid and Mira had an arranged marriage. While Shahid liked her from their first meeting, Mira took around six months to say yes to the marriage. The two share an age difference of 13 years. Thereafter, he married Mira Rajput in the year 2015. They became parents of a little girl in 2016, naming the baby Misha. In 2018, they welcomed Zain into their lives. He shall now be seen in Deva.
