On the other hand, some users sided with the filmmaker, while others defended the singer. A tweet read: “She got a break because of her status; others are still struggling.” Another user wrote: “Have listened to X Spaces when others sound much better.”

In defense of Jasleen Royal, one of her fans remarked: “I agree that several deserving people from India could have opened the concert, however, she has been under quite a lot of fire lately. She was probably nervous at the time. Let’s move on she has already received enough hate.” Another user simply said: “Leave her alone.”

The trio of concerts in Mumbai was part of the Music of the Spheres World Tour. Jasleen Royal, an artist recognized for her hits, including Ranjha and Din Shagna Da, was the opening act each night.

The filmmaker who shot to fame for the movie, The Kashmir Files, shared a post on X, formerly called Twitter, with the invitation to debate on the topic, “The House Believes in an independent state of Kashmir.” Sharing the note of his refusal, he wrote, “I found the topic offensive, anti-India, and anti-Kashmir. On principle, I have declined the offer.”

Agnihotri is working on The Delhi Files for theatrical release. Directed by Agnihotri and produced by Abhishek Agarwal Arts and Pallavi Joshi, it is likely to hit theaters on August 15, 2025.

Vivek casually talked to Hindustan Times about his film and how he wants his story to speak to his vision and make a point. He said, “I am not sitting down to discuss anything on the talk shows; that’s why you don’t see me on television anymore. I have no interest in public debates. If I had to make a point, I would prefer doing that through my films, my writing, books, and the other things I am doing. I do not wish to get impaled with the narrative of demonizing India”.

Vivek spoke of The Delhi Files

Vivek is working on a new project called The Delhi Files. He has recently told PTI that a big portion of the upcoming film would depict the violent history of undivided Bengal, including the Noakhali riots of 1946, the Muslim League, Congress, Mahatma Gandhi, and Md Ali Jinnah. There are people who’ve voiced queries about why Vivek Agnihotri is not making a film on the condition of the northeastern region. So many others are making different films. Let anyone from among them take up the task. The choice of a particular subject is mine. How is it wrong if I wish to raise awareness about the issue chosen by me?
