Anushka Sharma becomes the latest celebrity to honor Ravichandran Ashwin, the Indian cricketer who announced his retirement from international cricket on Wednesday. Following Ashwin’s surprising announcement at the end of the Brisbane Test in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Anushka posts on Instagram to shed some light on the Indian spinner.
Anushka commemorating Ashwin’s Legacy
Late on Wednesday night, she took to her Instagram Stories and reshared the footage of Ashwin’s retirement speech uploaded by the official handle of the Indian Cricket Team. Sharing on Instagram Stories, Anushka wrote, “@rashwin99 a legacy for life,” with applause and blue heart emojis added on.
Anushka sent Hugs and Love through emojis
Anushka also tagged her fellow WAG Ashwin’s wife Prithi Narayanan and sent hugs and love through emojis. Anushka has a warm relationship with both Ashwin and Prithi, courtesy her marriage to former Indian captain Virat Kohli. The four have often hung out during Indian team’s overseas tours and celebrated festivals together as well.
Incredible Career of Ashwin
Ravi Ashwin went on to announce his retirement from international cricket during a press conference after finishing playing in the Brisbane Test match on Wednesday. Ashwin now leaves international cricket as the fifth highest wicket-taker in Test cricket history.
Emotion ran high around Ashwin’s retirement when he found Virat Kohli rather emotional for him. The television cameras captured the tender moment between the two players in the dressing room during the Test between India and Australia as Ashwin apparently told him hours before the announcement about his retirement plans.
Anushka’s Next Work
Chakda Xpress is Anushka Sharma’s next project where she will be seen as a cricketer in a biopic based on Indian women’s cricket team legend Jhulan Goswami. The film has been awaiting release for more than two years now. It is releasing on Netflix but the date has yet to be announced. The actor was last seen in Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero back in 2018.
Anushka also praises Chess World Champion
D Gukesh made history by becoming the youngest world chess champion ever at just 18 years of age. The Indian grandmaster captured the crown by defeating defending champion Ding Liren in the final Game 14. Actor Anushka Sharma has reacted to the chess prodigy’s father’s words in which he was seen talking about the journey of his son in these years.
Anushka shared on her Instagram Stories a clip in which Gukesh’s father, Dr Rajinikanth can be heard saying, “Sacrifice is a big word. It is a duty of the parents to give to kids if they are talented in something. When he meant to us… when he started chess career at the beginning stage I could work my career and profession and during weekends I would go take him for weekend tournaments or something.
Once he was gaining rating and strength we had to travel abroad. One of us, me or my wife, had to take a conscious decision to accompany him for tournaments and someone has to continue practice. I took a decision of travelling with him and my wife took the decision of supporting the family economically. This is natural, any parent will do it for their kids. It is not a big deal for us.”
