Ranbir Kapoor reveals that why ‘Brahmastra’ is Closest to his Heart
While discussing Brahmastra, Ranbir Kapoor has said that there are “certain ideas” which have been incorporated into this film. Besides he also mentioned, “it has the potential to really grow more.”
The actor Ranbir Kapoor shared how Brahmastra resonates with his and Alia Bhatt’s journey in real life. Speaking with Deadline, Ranbir revealed that he and Alia really started dating during the shoot of that film. By the time Brahmastra reached the floor, they were already married and had a daughter, Raha Kapoor. The actor has called Brahmastra “special.”

He said about the sequels being made for Brahmastra and “one of my closest friends” director Ayan Mukerji. The actor said, “Well, part two is in, of course, it’s in the writing stage right now. Part one was called Shiva, part two is called Dev. We haven’t really announced the cast yet; that’s something very exciting also. It’s directed by one of my closest friends, Ayan.
I worked on two films with him before this: Wake Up Sid and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Brahmastra. So definitely, it was one of the first few films of that nature, especially for Indian cinema. We have explored, and we’ve touched upon certain ideas, but it has potential to really really grow more in the coming parts.”
Alia is being spoken of by Ranbir:
When asked by the interviewer about working on Brahmastra with his wife, he smiled and said, “yes, Alia”. Continuing, he said, “We actually met kind of… this is the first movie that we did together, and we started dating during the film. We got married, and we had a baby by the release of the film, so this whole kind of Brahmastra brought us through our journey together. Very special, yeah.” Then when asked whether Alia would feature in the second part of Brahmastra, Ranbir said, “of course”.
Information on the Brahmastra Trilogy
Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva, an Ayan Mukerji venture, will saw theatrical release across the globe in the month of September 2022. The film also features many celebs like Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy and Nagarjuna. There’s a guest appearance of Shah Rukh Khan in this film.
Earlier this year, he considers aspects of the Brahmastra Trilogy, the Astraverse. Brahmastra Part 2: Dev will be released in December 2026, while the next installment, Brahmastra Part 3, will come out in December 2027.

Filmmaker Ayan Mukerji has given a few more updates on the followup sequels to his film Part One: Shiva to his fans and followers through Instagram. Ayan added the twist in the “long note” by revealing that he also has something called ‘a very special movie‘ – to step into and direct.
Ayan’s post read: “Hello. With this, the time would arrive for some update about this trilogy- Brahmastra; the Astraverse; and my life. After collecting all the love and the reviews of Part One: I have next started focusing on creating the vision for Part Two and Part Three– which I know now is going to be bigger, better, and more ambitious compared to Part One!”
