Unlike Vicky Kaushal’s first look, Rashmika Mandanna’s first look from Chhaava has failed to impress the internet. Here’s what fans think

Rashmika Mandanna has emerged as one of the most sought-after female actors of the Indian film industry after delivering two back-to-back blockbuster hit films in the last two years. Following a much-needed disruption of the box office with Ranbir Kapoor with Animal by Sandeep Reddy Vanga (2023), Rashmika marked records opposite Allu Arjun by reprising the role of Srivalli with Pushpa 2: The Rule in 2024.

So, what’s in store next? Well, everyone was expecting yet another superhit from her pocket when it was announced that Rashmika would be sharing screen space with Vicky Kaushal in Chhaava. Well, her first look has already disappointed the internet.

Rashmika Mandanna’s First Look Posters as Maharani Yesubai

Going back in time to last August, the makers had unveiled Vicky Kaushal’s goosebump-inducing first look as Maratha king Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in the teaser of Chhaava. It had a deep impact on fans and even left Vicky’s actor wife Katrina Kaif impressed. Well, today the team dropped Rashmika Mandanna’s first look posters as Maharani Yesubai, Vicky’s on-screen wife. Sporting a heavy jewellery setup with a pallu on the head, big red bindi on her forehead, and a traditional Marathi nath on her nose, Rashmika looks every inch royal. That said, there are netizens who are clearly disappointed, considering her a ‘miscast’ for the movie.

Under a Reddit thread featuring Rashmika’s first look posters from Chhaava, one unimpressed social media user wrote, “Gone are the days when they use to do look test for role. She doesn’t look the part and I have no hopes she is gonna get dictation correctly. She is clear miscast!,” whereas another comment read, “miscast.”. She does not have a face for periodic films imo”.

Netizen commented on Rashmika’s Look

A netizen commented in response to the claim saying, “Sounds a little controversy but is a bit too early to claim that she’s miscast just on the basis of the first look poster. Hope her character will get good depth in this role”. While another fan reacted to it stating, “Looks like Srivalli with more Jewellery and Maharashtrian Saree.

Others continued with fan-nomination names for the role who, according to them, should have been used in place of Rashmika. For example, someone wrote: “Someone tell me why they couldn’t take Mrunal for this, considering she’s actually Maharashtrian and suits these kinds of roles?,”, whereas another suggested: “o bad… she looks just like Srivalli from the Pushpa movie.”. I know Kriti would’ve nailed it, and we would’ve also gotten the Vicky and Kriti pairing!

????????.”Are you looking forward to witnessing Rashmika and Vicky’s fresh pairing in Chhaava on February 14?

A Story Adapted from Marathi Literature

Chhaava is not just a movie in the simple sense of the word, but an adaptation of a novel by Shivaji Sawant, Chhaava, a deep and penetrating novel into the life and legacy of Sambhaji Maharaj. It finds basis in literature, hence the movie is found on authenticity and history. With the major theme being one of India’s greatest warriors, it promises an emotional rollercoaster to enjoy as it takes one through the thrilling pages of history.

It will portray each battle, every fight, and every victory of Sambhaji Maharaj as he tried to save his kingdom and his people. Chhaava will depict how, under his leadership and bravery, he dedicated himself to the Maratha empire and fought for his people despite all odds.
