“Most Unforgettable Cameos in Bollywood in the year 2024!”
The end of 2024 brings us all the way to the crazy cameos we saw in Indian films; some you could totally expect, while some have surprised even the most made-up faces in Bollywood.
Indeed, 2024 was a year marked by all sorts of collaborations-not just in music but even within the Indian film industry. Among them, popular actors would leave crowds in uproar when they suddenly appeared for a very short but very impactful cameo in the movie. As we bid adieu to the year, let us look back at these special appearances that found their way into our hearts and made their marks within Indian cinema’s history:
Sreeleela In ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’
Pushpa 2: The Rule has garnered a lot of comments mostly because of a special dance number by Sreeleela. Even before the film’s release, the makers released a teaser for the song titled Kissik, which was believed to recreate the same kind of magic that Samantha’s dance number Oo Antava Oo Oo Antava created in Pushpa: The Rise (2021). Well, played on the silver screen, the entire song, with both Sreeleela and Allu Arjun in it, dropped a whole lot of jaws, thanks to its sizzling chemistry and groovy dance moves.
Salman Khan In ‘Singham Again’
Speculation was rife even until the last day regarding Bollywood’s Bhaijaan Salman Khan having a cameo in Rohit Shetty’s cop drama Singham Again. Some rubbished it as a rumor, while others thought that Salman would join Ajay in battle just like Akshay Kumar did at the climax. Well, Salman did join Ajay but it was at the police headquarters, not on the battlefield. He made a dhamakedaar entry as Inspector Chulbul Pandey from Dabangg (2010) and the next words that flashed onscreen read, ‘Mission Chulbul Singham Loading soon.’ After release, Rohit revealed that we will witness Chulbul Pandey vs Bajirao Singham in a standalone film and not his cop universe
Tamannaah Bhatia, Akshay Kumar and Varun Dhawan In ‘Stree 2’
The biggest blockbuster of the year was Stree 2 featuring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor. One of the contributing factors to the success of this horror comedy was the special appearances, which the audience thought would be more. While Tamannaah Bhatia not only sizzled on the chartbuster hit Aaj Ki Raat into Shama but also won many hearts with her chemistry with Pankaj Tripathi, it was Akshay Kumar who left audiences rolling in splits as Sarkata’s descendant.
Vijay Deverakonda, Mrunal Thakur and Dulquer Salmaan in ‘Kalki 2898 AD’
Kalki 2898 AD, when revealed, stockpiled the fans shouldering all the weight of that the film stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan. These three put the mark in the sky with their sweat-inducing acts. However, what was the biggest surprise that got the crowds roaring again in the cinema halls? Vijay Deverakonda is Arjuna, the Pandava brother, while Mrunal Thakur is confused as the mother of Kalki.
Varun Dhawan in ‘Munjya’
It was a double thrilling cameo act for Varun this year, and both happen to be a part of Dinesh Vijan’s horror comedy universe. He came back as Bhediya in Munjya, which starred Abhay Verma and Sharvari, and was a new addition to the universe. Interesting is the fact that Abhishek Banerjee, who joined Varun aka Bhaskar Sharma as JD, is the only character who has a role in all parts of the franchise- Stree, Stree 2, Bhediya and now Munjya.
Janhvi Kapoor in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya
Another quite impressive guest appearance in a film was when Janhvi Kapoor came to amuse audiences in this favorite movie: Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. In this very short scene, Janhvi gets to have a casual flirty exchange with main star Shahid Kapoor, as the exed robot Kriti-Sanon watches the whole scene from a distance. This brief scene is enough to convince fans about the onscreen chemistry between Shahid and Janhvi. We are so ready for a sequel with Shahid, Kriti, and Janhvi in the lead.
