At a time when most of the world considers Bollywood celebrities to be untouchable personalities always in the limelight, here comes another reality dose with Arjun Kapoor revealing himself on loneliness and self-care. Known for his roles in Ishaqzaade and Singham Again, he reaches out to the public with his journey of dealing with personal loss, its emotional healing, and looking after oneself. His story reminds us that everyone does face the bad times, even behind the glamour and has to individually find a way to heal themselves.

A Deep Personal Loss and Its Impact

It was in 2014, and Arjun had perhaps one of the toughest moments of his life when he lost his mother, Mona Shourie. She was a big chunk of his world, and they were very close to each other. Within the same month, his sister Anshula moved to Delhi to pursue her studies and was leaving him in a home far from his family. He did not enjoy being back at the house without a soul at home even when his career was beginning to soar.

This loneliness was a turning point for Arjun’s life. “I was becoming a star but that’s not the kind of attention I wanted. It wasn’t enough to fill the emptiness that felt inside,” he told The Hollywood Reporter India. All was going pretty well on the professional front, but the personal aspects of life were quite tough, and loneliness in the wake of his mother’s death was one of the toughest things he had to face with.

Learning to Take Care of Himself

The most important thing that Arjun has learned over the years is self-care. According to him, one should take care of himself before looking for happiness in a relationship or from other people. As shared by Arjun, “Being selfish is often seen as a bad thing, but I think it’s essential to put yourself first when you are not okay.”

Simple yet powerful is the message of Arjun: you cannot use a relationship to solve all your emotional problems. “Relationships fulfill you, but if you are not okay with yourself, it is hard to be okay in a relationship,” he said. For him, turning over personal struggles each day became key in moving forward. It is about mental health care before anything else.

How did Arjun handle breakups and loneliness?

Though Arjun did not exactly go into details about his breakup with Malaika Arora, his comments still give us an idea of how he coped with loneliness after such a personal event. It’s apparent that though break-ups are hard for anyone, they are especially difficult for public figures who have to bear constant media attention.

He said that healing was a slow process. Emotions were not caused by loneliness, but problems in life that needed to be layered on top of each other. “It’s not about just being alone or lonely. It’s about everything that’s happening in life at the same time,” he explained. This realization helped him understand that personal healing takes time, and it’s okay to focus on you before worrying about anything else.

Breaking the Stigma of Emotional Struggles in Men

What stands out in Arjun’s story is that he is open about emotional struggles; they challenge the stereotype that expects men not to show their feelings. In so many cultures, showing vulnerability is commonly deemed a weakness, but Arjun breaks this stereotype by talking about his challenges and urging others to do the same.

By sharing his journey, Arjun is educating others, particularly men, that it is alright to talk about mental health and healing time. He believes emotional well-being is comparable or on par with the physical. It is never wrong to state that you are not okay.

Peace in Self-Discovery

Arjun Kapoor’s story reminds us of the importance of self-discovery and personal growth. Not that I need to say, however, relationships and outer support aside, they should not outweigh the need to first be at peace with oneself. For Arjun, healing from his loss of mother and his emotional turmoil has been day-to-day. “Every day you wake up and work on yourself, it’s not about finding someone to fix you but about finding peace within,” he said.

Arjun finally opens up about his inner battle, reminding everyone that the stars, too, are equal in dealing with their issues in life. The journey of Arjun shows healing begins with self-awareness and care, you take the time you need to work on yourself.
