During the session on Stars in the City, actors from Sky Force-Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya-discussed the movie, their chemistry on-screen and more. Read on.

It was all about actor Akshay Kumar’s witty charm and his Sky Force co-star, debutante Veer Pahariya’s charismatic presence as the duo visited HT City for the Stars in the City session. The actors had a candid conversation with Sonal Kalra, Chief Managing Editor, Entertainment and Lifestyle, Hindustan Times. They spoke about the film, their on-screen camaraderie, and even tackled some tough questions.

Akshay Kumar said “Kyon na karun deshbhakti ki films”?

Akshay Kumar, an enthusiast about his work, is confident about the scripts he has picked up this time, though he knows some flak would come his way for being so patriotic. The 57-year-old assured the audience that this film is nothing like his previous ones, claiming, “It’s not the same genre. It’s a different story. There’s nothing even remotely close to Airlift or Rustom (both 2016) or any other film.

Akshay Kumar said to talk about having received the opportunity to play many films with patriotisch undertones. “I’m so lucky that I get a chance to play so many characters. God has been so kind, I got to play Lord Krishna and Lord Shiva. What else can I ask for?” If I’m getting such a gorgeous opportunity, you think I should give it a miss because some people say, ‘Aap deshbakhti ki film kyon karte ho?’ Kyon na kare!undefined”

Akshay about the Fitness Journey

Veer and Akshay Kumar also talked about fitness during the conversation. Veer, being a fitness enthusiast, said when asked if Akshay encouraged him to follow a fitness routine on set, “Akshay sir is always on the move, running around the set. He made sure I did the same! I had a great time following his fitness routine — he’s been a huge influence on me.”

Akshay Kumar further added, “There are 2-3 simple things that I always suggest. Wake up early. Have dinner by 6:30 pm, and get 8 hours of sleep. Jab hum school mein hote hai to mata pita kehte hai ki jaldi so jao, subah uthna hota hai. Phir pata nahi kya hota hai, hum jawan ho jaate hain. Phir hum bewakoofo waali harkate karna shuru kar dete hain.

Dignitaries posed along with Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya. Defense minister sat to the right hand side of Akshay when the movie screening took place, besides other screening attendees including but not limited to CDS Anil Chauhan, the Army Chief, General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh, Navy Chief Dinesh K Tripathi, etc.

Sharing the pictures, the minister wrote, “Joined CDS and three service chiefs at the special screening of Sky Force. The film narrates the story of Indian Air Force’s bravery, courage and sacrifice during the 1965 War. I laud the makers of the film for their efforts.”
